"Every child is an artist. The problem is staying an artist when you grow up."
– Pablo Picasso
Only some children have the strength and courage to face the devastating persuasion of adults that they can't do something well enough or that it can't sustain them in life.
Painting has been with me all my life, but I hadn't found the deep impulse to pursue it fully for a long time. The renaissance-esque beginning which started my journey was the period of the pandemic, when the pressure could no longer be sustained. It has been going on ever since.
My work is an adventurous journey into the world of abstraction, combining bold colour with emotional content. I draw inspiration from my travels around the world as well as from life situations that carry a strong emotional charge. I see painting as a way of self-discovery and understanding of the world around me. I am closest to working with acrylics, which I combine with chalks, inks, acrylic gels and elements of the sumi-e technique. My creative process is an intuitive search not only for the final expression of the image, but also for my inner attunement to the perception of the world.
The blank canvas waiting for the first drops of paint, tensed with the desire for self-expression, is the moment that triggers the greatest addiction. The journey is the destination, because the destination is never obvious and remains a surprise until the last drop of paint.
With colour we can convince others of our magical creation.
Let yourself be surprised like me.
